Maynooth, County Kildare

MaynoothMaynoothMaynooth
Maynooth is a famous university village situated in north County Kildare, Ireland, which is the center to both  a Papal University and  a branch of the National University of Ireland as well as St. Patrick's College. Maynooth is also the destination for the Irish Catholic Bishops' Conference and has Trocaire headquarter that is known as the largest development charity in Ireland. The town is situated on the R148 road that falls between Kilcock and Leixlip, alongside M4 motorway bypassing it. Rest of the roads connects Maynooth to Clane, Dunboyne and Celbridge. Moreover, the ancient name of Maynooth refers to the plain of Nuada. The word Nuada means the maternal grandfather of the classic Fionn mac Cumhail.

The town was a long-term location for the Geraldine family, who took active part in Irish affairs in several periods. Furthermore, in the year 1920s, the town was reserved as the unofficial home to the King of England’s representative. The town is located just inside the west edge of The Pale. It is famous for its historical buildings that mark several ancient and important activities. The “new range” of the college building was built by A.W.N. Pugin in the year 1850.
